Sugar cravings are my biggest obstacle. In the morning, I have coffee with sugar, then at work I have more coffee…with sugar. Before lunch, you guessed it…more sugar in the form of candy from the supervisors evil candy jar, currently stocked full of jelly beans. Everyone in the office knows I love sweets, they bring me stuff and I tell them not to, but they do and I gladly accept it. The people who clean our office weekly even brought me a huge stick of sugarcane!. Does anyone else love sugar as much as I do? I am going to make an effort to stop again but sugar always seems to rear its ugly granulated head, especially when I feel stressed. Help me .

Hi Stay Gold,
You are stronger than your sugar craving especially if you arm yourself with some sugar beating strategies. Awareness is very important which you have. Some people eat high sugar snacks mindlessly-they repetetively snack from the candy or cookie jar without thought or drink sweet sodas high in high fructose syrup. Awareness is the first step to making a healthy lifestyle change. Next you can choose alternative like healthy fruits-blueberries, bananas, magos or a couple of my favorites dates and dried papaya. You can also use sugar alternatives in your coffee such a Stevia which is a natural sugar alternative. It is very sweet so you only need a very little bit-it is 200-300 times sweeter than sugar. Be sure though not to eliminate completely all of your favorite sweets this will only lead to out of control over indulging. Make a truce with the Jelly Bean Jar and allow yourself a handful perhaps once a week. I wish you many days of happy, healthy snacking!

Thanks Stayfit for you encouraging words. I will try your suggestions and see how they help. I will get back to you on that. Stevia sounds like a great alternative also, though some people have told me that it has chemicals in it. As for the jelly bean jar, not going near it tomorrow. Maybe a nice little handful on Monday. I know I cannot completely deny myself because that just makes me relapse into Candyland (I loved that game btw, correlation possibly, lol?) I am going to try the dried fruit, sounds like a good treat, thanks. I will let you know how sweets vs. dried fruit goes, thanks again!
